right turned the lights off and then noticed this thing floating around the tank (like it was flying lol) so i snaped a couple of pics any ideas

right i have added the blue tube today

and when i did i found some more little critters

i found some
amphipods
and a crab

not sure which one it is but it has been mentioned that it could be a mythrax/emerald crab

Right just to update things

9th
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5

10th
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate <5

brown patches turning up on the sand

loads of little bugs comming out at night

somthing is moving the sand about and did it after i put the sand back

brain
type corals doing well the red ones are doing fine the green and yellow
ones have poped up from nowhere and are bigger than the blue ones ever
were but the blu daises seem to be dying off and getting smaller even
ones on the other rock's

crab seems to be doing fine

i have more amphypods than i relised added some copepods to the mix 2 days ago have photoplancton in the fridge

skimmer is pulling out tea coloured stuff

white
spots have started to appear on the glass at the sides and the sea
stars are getting bigger and i seem to have 4 of the white ones now 2
being tiny

snail is touring the whole of the tank happily and the little baby snails i have are doing the same

sounds like algie to me is the waver maker pointed near it...it might not have enought flow there thats why you might be getting it

their is plenty of flow over the sand just not enough to blow it all over the place

it seems is a normal thing in a new tank

the white dots on the glass are more than likely copepods mate.

Btw, that crab is a baddie.

I have always been told red eyes mean its a baddie, either sump it or take it to the LFS.

I have something similar not red eyes tho and its tiny, urs look quite big.

the mythrax been told it is a emerald mythrax crab as they have red eyes but will sump it in the end

right been scouting about the tank today and found a few things that are new just hope none are bad things lol
and i seem to be getting some brown tubes appearing form no where also

got a few of these dotted all over the rocks

2 rock polyp's
3 small bristle worm
4 coraline algea
5 baby clam

pic 2 looks like Aiptasia, To Me.....
If it is get rid or will take over tank like weeds do in garden.

pic 3 Bristleworm goodie

pic 5 Stomatella goodie
not nice looking but you can sump them if you have one.

pic 6 the red stuff is normal.

Nothing more to add. All good stuff, some people let the coraline algae grow on the glass, some people remove it. YOu help boost the growth of coraline by adding calcium to top up water. All the above are good things for the tank, dont bother removing.

no they are not aiptasia i have one of them growing on my thermometer from somewhere lol but this will be easy to remove

i am starting to like their persitance lol

pic 5 is definatly a clam as it opens and closes and has now moved lol
