I have 3 cherry barbs - 1 male, 2 female. The male is paying a lot of attention to one of the females, chasing her round the tank, and swimming really close to her. A lot of lurving going on there I think I love you .

Problem is the second female is playing gooseberry! She is being ignored by the two lovebirds, and gets chased away if she goes anywhere near them. Sometimes, when the male isnt around, she will chase the first female around the tank in a nark.

I dont know if I need to get another fish to keep her company, and if so what? If I get a male will there be a territory battle brewing, and if I get a female will that just cause more problems?

I feel like I'm setting up a fishy dating agency!

It's always better to have a lot more females than males of small species like this as I've discovered with my Honey Gouramis. Rolling Eyes

yeh get a few more females, altho fish arent "lonely" they dont always NEED a mate, just a bit of advice to think about when stocking your tank in the future, to prevent you from overstocking.
