There is something wromng with one of my guppies. It is swimming a bit funny - as if it cant keep its balance properly, and there is a lump on one side, about half way between the head and tail. All the water is fine by the way.

Any ideas what could be the problem and what I need to do?

Is it eating ok tardis. I have heard that swimbladder problems can cause fish to swim weird, but with it having a lump then perhaps its some sort of cycst?

Not sure what you should do with it to be honest, but it might be best to put it in a tank on its own if you can just in case dunno

Maybe some sort of internal infection, yeah i also heard the swim bladder can cause the fish to swim funny.

If you have any Octozin it is handy for internal parasites etc...however id wait and see what others suggest. I dont know much on fish illnesses.

It was me, I had an acei with a white lump, it popped & looked like the fish just blew it's guts out.

Do you have a pic at all tardis?

As GD said, Octozin would be the way to go by the sounds of it. I was too late with my acei but the others that started to look the same way, survived after I figured out it was an internal bacteria causing the problems.

As well as MC, Diana had the exploding fish also. Shocked

Sorry to say that IME lumps on fish are never a good sign. I've had several die from these and didn't know what the cause was. I quarantined them and treated them with anti bacterial meds. (Interpet #9) but alas, they still died. Sad

Well the fish died, but did not explode fortunately - the description by Munchy just put me off seeing that! Sick Guppy 36977
