| hey all just letting you know im going fishing...........for cichlids!!!!!!!!!!!! suposedly there is a place called hazelwood pondage wich is used as a cooling resivor for one of the power stations over there. so the water stays at a 26c or higher. (im going that way anyway because my mother in law lives out there) suposedly there are red devils/ convicts/ the odd jd/ and some sort of hybrid tilipia from what i have read corn and bacon work best. when i get back i will be sure to post some pics of what i catch. | |

| I am hoping that in Oz they dont have to deal with such things and all the fish will be swimming around bathed in sunshine and in crystal clear waters. I do hope my illusions dont get shattered. | |

| lol.!!!!!!!!! hey all no i didnt catch a boot. but i did catch a hat. last night was no good for fishing. tooooo windy this morning was great i caught a red devil (that i through back)and a hat in 2 hours then had to go back to my mother in laws.
but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this arvo i took my other half to see the place and thought i would try to find the so called secret hidden spot......... we found it
hundreds of them!!!!!! i didnt even have to cast all we did was put our hooks with corn in the water and bang bang bang the little blighters were on.
so all up we caught 1 red devil, 2 convicts, and 3 others im not 100% sure could be cross breeds/hybrids.
im keeping these guys!!!! i have got a tub at home waiting..... they are all still small max size of about 10cm.
i will post photos about this time tommorow. | |

| the ones i kept are roughly the same size some a little bit smaller. after a bit of home work i actualy bran ghome 5 red devils as the juvies havnt coloured up yet. they kinda look like firemouths atm but suposedly will colour up.. so looks like i will have to go back in a few weeks to get some convicts and others. also iherd there are blue zebra cichlids in there too... im just glad my Q tub is bigger than my 2 small tanks | |

| hey guys thought id update this as i went fishing at hazelwood again. this time i went better equiped with a bait net and smaller hooks. damn there were hundreds of red devils. some convicts, didnt see any tilapia. and one monster carp!!! lol nearly broke my rod... this photo is early morning when the air is cool there is a natural fog above the water. this is at least 20 red devils chasing one that had been hooked thinking it had food this is the monster carp that almost broke my rod im not sure what this was but it looked like a red devil but it was blue with stripes???(i think this is a tilapia) this is one of the red devils in quarantine i also caught a heap of red devils @ about 1-5cms in the bait fish net. all fish were thrown back today | |
