Angel Fish Angelfish_Gold_Black20Background_00

Angel Fish
Type: Tropical Freshwater

Scientific Name: Pterophyllum scalare
Max Size: Height: up to 25cm (10”)
pH: 6-8
Water Temp: 24-30 deg C (75-86 deg F)

Appearance
This majestic species has a very graceful demeanour around the aquarium. With their beautiful finage they create a great addition to a large aquarium. A large number of colour strains are available.

Specific Requirements
This fish do require a taller than average tank as they can grow higher than most fish. The substrate should be soft and smooth, so as to protect the delicate finnage when the fish are swimming in the lower reaches of the tank, and a good cover of aquatic plants should be provided in order for the fish to feel safe. Pairs can become very territorial when breeding. A large number of colour strains are available.

Compatibility
Smaller species like tetras can become a snack for these aggressive eaters! Pairs can become very territorial when breeding. PLEASE NOTE: That there is another type of angels called Altum Angels. They are much more aggressive towards most fish and should be researched well.

Dietary Needs
Will accept all manner of aquarium fare: flake, slowly-sinking pellet foods, frozen foods such as mosquito larvae, brineshrimp, Mysis, daphnia etc.
