angel fish

Ive got room for a few more fish in my 200 litre tank and I have been thinking of angel fish but I dont know anything about them or if they would go with the fish I have. Can anyone give me some info please?

I saw some lovely baby angelfish just the other day, looked really cool. I think they are a bit aggressive sometimes though arent they? Dont believe a word of this though - wait till someone who knows tells you. :lol:

Just a follow on, have just read the info on Angels because I am looking for fish to get for my tank, and didnt realise they would eat tetras - would my neons really become a snack for them?

Do they grow quite big then - I thought they were a smallish fish.

Yes Diana... AFAIK you shouldn't mix angels with neon tetra

i have three angels the biggest is larger than my hand spread out he has grown a lot since i put him in the larger tank and the other two are not far behind him either they do push each other around now and again but usually ignore each other in my lfs there is a tank of angels and they are about 6 inches across the body not including the fins and they are stunning the big angel is the only fish to come right up to the tank when you near it he is not a bit afraid

Jeez, they grow to quite a size then! I didnt realise that. What size tank do you have for them then alison?

their are in a 230 l tank i did have the largest one in a 60l tank but i had it when it was a baby it was one of the reasons i upgraded the other reason is a 11 inch plec but until i saw the size on the ones in the lfs i didn't realise they got that big myself i think there's a bigger tank on the way in the future

What's more important to Angelfish is the height of the tank as they tend to swim vertically rather than horizontally so the tank really needs to be at least 18" high. Also, from what I've read, it's better to keep just a single individual or at least four to spread any aggression that might occur. I have a single Black Lace Angelfish that is just lovely.
