Can you keep goldfish and tropical fish together? I have been to my doctors today and in their waiting room they have a tank that had all sorts of different fish including goldfish, some fish that was stick to the side of the glass, and some that I think are called neon tetras.
It looked quite good and I would like to go for something like that, would that be ok?

short answer is no mate. they have different food requirements for one thing, different needs as far as the temperature of the water goes and just shouldnt be mixed.

It's one of the things that you do sometimes see, but it shouldnt be done rusty.
Goldfish do better when they are kept in their own environment, at a cooler water temperature and getting food that has the protein levels they need. They dont get any of this if they are kept in a warm water tank.

I feel sorry for goldfish. They seem to be the fish that just are expected to be dumped anywhere and get on with it. Why is that?
