I'm just raising my 3rd lot of platty fry at the moment. Only 6 this time which is quite a bit less than the other broods I have had which have been 15 and 12 each.
In this lot there are a few fry which just dont seem right. They are not growing as quick as the others and dont seem able to swim aswell as them either. Sometimes they dont seem to get to the food quick enough and I am wondering if they are sort of the runts of the litter!
Do you think there might be something wrong with them and what should I do about it? Do I need to seperate them to make sure they get enough food?
I'd be glad of any help, thanks

I wouldnt bother tbh. if these are the runts then they are never going to be strong and healthy fish so i would just let nature take its course, as long as you are sure there is no infection going on in the tank, which it doesnt sound like there is.

If it makes you feel better, you could separate them to make sure they get enough food. I suppose it is worth a shot but it might be a lost cause and I've a feeling that Nature wil sort it out for you anyway.

Oh Good luck!! If they are runts though i'm afraid nature will probably take it's course

If you have another tank then its worth the try I suppose, but iof you havent I wouldnt go and get one specially. I havent been keeping fish long but would feel that this was not worth the effort tbh.

You're probably right, but it seems that all the other fry have been ok, its just the ones in this batch that are sickly. I think I will try and make sure they get enough grub, although I cant get another tank for them.
Hopefully they will start to pick up, thanks everyone
