Please help with this as I am sure it is wrong Evil or Very Mad

Ammonia is going down to 0 and being topped up to 4 but the Nitrite has gone DOWN. It was stuck at 1.5 but today is only between 0-5 and 1.0??

I know this shouldn't happen so why is it and what should I do. The Nitrate is 20 btw, so would the 1.5 be the spike even though it's not high??

Hiya MC, I set the tank up on Jan 20th and started adding Ammonia on 21st. The Ammonia stayed high for a few days and I didnt have to add any at all as it was high all the time, then things started to settle and it started to go down a bit.

Nitrite went to 2.0, then 1.5 now lower again today but no big spike.

What's going on??

So 16 days... i'd keep adding the ammonia up to 4ppm for now, the nitrite can seem to 'stick' then drop very quickly. Keep posting daily & we can all keep ½ an eye on it with you Very Happy

I never got a huge spike when I was doing the fishless cycle either brb, it only went up to 2 or thereabouts, never any higher.

As mentioned, keep doing as you are for a wee bit longer, and post the results on here, so we can keep an eye on them.
