| Right getting quite annoyed with this cycle now as it seems not to be going anywhere now.
For nearly 2 weeks the nitrites have been extrmely high and each day the ammonia is dropping back down to 0. I have reduced the amount of ammonia i am adding to 2ppm and the nitrite is still not budging. Nitrates are on the increase now at about 50ppm. Any ideas whats going on here?? | |

| That sounds fairly normal sally. The bacteriia that convert nitrate to nitrate take longer to establish themselves. The fact you have nitrates of 50 shows that there is a good colony building up, but it has a bit to go yet. if I remember rightly, my nitrate was about 90 when my cycle finished, which is why you do nearly a 100% water change when the cycle does finally finish. Shouldnt be long though | |

| Yeah, that is spot on. Just keep taking the level up to about 2 or 3ppm and wait for the day when you get 0-0!! | |

| I warned you in my post in your last cycles question that the nitrite eater bugs seem to take a good deal longer to develop than the ammonia ones just stick to it - soon be over | |
