well yes i am going to the dark side lol

it's been so intresting setting up the little tank and all that the cichlids have been put in second place to some rock's lol

it's taken about a week to decide this and i have finally come to the conclution that salt water tanks are that difficult just expensive to start

if you are lucky you can get a pair so i think the previous owner waited and paid a fair bit for them lol

but he got lazy towards the end as the phosphate is 5ppm so i have added rowaphos to try and get it down so that is the reason for all the hair algae

looks like some of the leaths are shedding give them a couple of days and they should be back to full health.

Mushies look good, i could tell from pictures but be careful of any Bubble algae.

I actually need to check my phosphates, as I think my rowa is due to be renewed, I peronally dont think the bag method works very well as I see a sligh trace, but all the reeferes I have seen and spoken to say they have a slight trace around .3 - .5 max.

Also a few nice toadies too. What colour are the button polyps? mine are orange and green under blues.

That looks a great set up kb. Where did you get the tank from, it's a great idea to get one already set up isnt it?

Wouldnt mind an explaination of what exactly a sump does when you have a spare minute between llugging buckets of water and testing the salltiness - just dip your finger in and taste is the best method is it laughing

the tank was from ebay

but it is the cheapest way to do it not nessisarily the best as mine is full of hair algae due to not having water changes done and using tap water

i have just rebuilt the sump to a better design so will start a thread with it shortly lol

salinty is just a refractometer takes 2 secs lol
