| I just noticed that one of the light bulbs in the three foot tank is flickering. Does this mean the bulb is about to fail or could it be a faulty starter? | |

| On tubes (strip lamps) its usually a dodgy starter - they are very cheap and cheaper from a light/diy store than a LFS but the choice is yours, they are a standard size as far as I know but take it along just in case I dont have this problem anymore - got LED rig now | |

| If you take your bulb to the lfs they might be able to test it for you. If it works ok there you know it is the starter. | |

| if you have two tubes in the tank - swap em over - if the one that flickered before doesnt do so in its new position (and like wise the one that didnt now does) its the starter
other things to check are the seals and that no water had developed in the fitting etc
starters are about £1 a go and tubes depends on size ans wattage etc etc etc | |
