the unexplainable deaths are so madding. Mad

Oh that is upsetting, dekker. I agree with you, though - the unexplained ones are the worst. Sad

Did you test the water, just to be sure? Also, I presume you have bogwood (not Mopani wood) in the tank...Wink

Were there any physical symptoms on the plec? Fungal growth or otherwise as sometimes they're prone to columnaris which looks kind of fluffy?

I guess it was just one of those things then. It's possible that it was just harbouring some unknown illness and eventually succumbed. Poor little guy.

Oh I would be so upset if anything happened to one of my plecs - they are my favourite fish. I am so sorry this has happened dekker.

How long had you had him?

Am i right in thinking you have another BN ? if so - they can and do fight - quite violently on occasions - just a thought

Whatever the cause - im having state funeral and national week of mourning when one of mine flips a fin.

Will you be getting a replacement? or possibly trying something new?

If you replace it try and get one of opposite gender to whatever you have left? They are fun and fairly easy to breed.

Mine didnt need any encouragement to do their thing - just keep the diet healthy and water healthy and provide the basice luxuries a BN likes (caves and wood to lurk in) and one day - youll be rewarded Wink
