| Hiya frfnf (that's a shorter version!!) That's gross!! I had never really thought of fiosh being caught in the wild and going through all that before they get to the shops! It's surprosing that any of them survive isn't it?? As for what will go with them, I am sure someone will help you out with that soon. |

cheers Hello fish are friends, and a big WELCOME to the forum. Thanks for joining and we hope you like it here I hadn't heard the story about the cyanide, but it would not surprise me to be honest. I think the way the catching of live tropical fish are caught and dealt with is very poorly scrutinised and as charley said it is surprising that any of them survive the experience. I suppose the only good thing is that at least when decent fishkeepers buy them they get a good home, and I hope yours do well. As for what you can mix them with, a lot of that depends on what sort of tank you have - what dimensions and volume it holds, and what your preference is regarding fish. They are a nice little fish that do well in a community tank. I have mine happily mixing in wirth rasboras, cherry barbs, guppies, plattys and BN's. Any of those interest you? | |

| you will probabyl find that at least 90% of the fish trade in the uk is captive bred but their will be 10% that is wild Cyanide fishing is worth a read tho you will probably find that they died due to the water chemistry in the tank was it new by any chance ? neons in my tank have got along with platies, guppies, endlers, clown loach, otto's and pleco's they are a pritty versitile fish | |

| Well i dont know if anyone's seen how they catch Oto's in the wild? They just go into the swamps and net thousands at a time, then stick em all in a big bag and throw the bag on the wagon, how many survive i have no idea, but my guess is that most ottos are wild caught as they are in abundance. |

| Think fish are a good site for this and also gives great understanding of the fish but dont rely on their calculation for the tank it is way out, but is really good for highlighting bad points with fish in a comunity | |
