Dither fish for a Shell dwelling tank

I have been thinking about adding some dither fish which will occupy the top areas of the tank.

I have been looking at some Rainbow fish, I love the look of the Featherfins. However I have seen some fish which were a golden colour and lovely bright yellow/white flashes on their fins, anyone any idea what these may have been? (i thought they were some sort of rainbow also but I cannot find them anywhere)

I've been thinking of getting some Rainbow fish also. Probably Boesemani's as I think these are some of the prettiest.

yeah basically a dither fish will encourage shy fish to come outto play.

although they do prefer well planted tanks surely they would be ok in the shell tank wouldn't they?

Well they use the plants for shelter, to feel safe, so they may behave differently to how you would expect/want

Having said that - you wont know until you try & they are cute little things & a bit different to neons & danios

Never heard of them but I like the look of them.

Drat. My water has a dGH of 6 so according to this profile, it's too soft for them. Oh well.

Well IME Bettas do far better kept on their own with just Otos and/or Amano Shrimp. They're a very territorial fish and actually prefer being solitary IMO.

Got me 7 of there beauties for shell dwelling tank. got the ideal water!

just added they have had a stressfull afternoon lets seem them tonight when the lights are on..added a small airstone and the pump i bought off maty to add some oygen for the plants

great liilte fish there GD. Is that background one of the internal rock types, or is it just a paper backing one that you stick on the outside of the tank. Loks really good.
