Weak fish

Well In my batch of Rainbow Fish I got from what I thought was a rather nice looking Fish shop one of the females looked rather sad and hanging byitself with all the fins tightly tucked in nd when i looked closer I noticed torn fins. Wasnt happy but I thought it may cheer up if it wasnt getting bullied by any of the fish which I had bought that day.


WELL, today I checked the fish and thought I saw......A WHITE LUMP!!!!!

right down near the begining of the tail fin. Nothing else in my tank has any white lumps (possibly white spot? or a fungus with it being a weak fish?)

Well now im not happy!!!!! I dont think this fish had any lumps when i bought it. But I could be wrong - Guess this shows me why a Q tank in necessary sometimes.


What should I do? Speak to the LFS where I bought it on Sunday? Get some white spot treatment tomorrow? Remove and kill that weak fish? I cant Q it as my other tank is currently undergoing RO testing

Oh bugger, return it to the lfs & keep a very close eye on the rest

Can you get a pic? I'd be tempted to bung some melafix/pimafix in and give her a day or two.

I'd be tempted to forget about your RO testing and q it as quick as you can. You can take up the testing at any time, but that fish may be spreading something to all your other fish.

Get your new camera out and post a pic so we can see what sort of lump it is.

Aint got new camera took it back due to a software issue.

Well this morning its stuck to the side of the internal filter Ill call the LFS at 9 once it opens.

Btw on a side note a few of the Java Fern leaves appear to have what Id say was the begining of Algae growing on them, any idea why? I have the lights on for around 7 hrs (1hr in the morninging 1 hr in the afternoon and 5 hrs at night) Or is this normal? and how can it be removed without damaging the leaves

Wasnt white spot. Got the fish swapped over today but it is officially a dead fish.

Its not algae growth on the fern leaves apparently its new shoots

LFS looked at it and said "you should have saved your tank water" LOL

it was bearly breathing - no idea what that white spot on it was tho as I coulndt see it this morning, maybe my tired eyes last night?

Yeah aparently Java Ferns get a colectiong of little green balls and a sprout will appear, Ill keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

I am actually thinking of changing my light in the tank as it is a basic one I got with the tank

any suggestions what to replace it with? If im not mistaken it believe a 20W "jinlong own brand" is in at the moment.
