At long long last all the green has gone and I have really clean water in the tank, and I can see the fish swimming rounf which is always a bonus isnt it?

I'm going ti wait a bit and make sure that all the problems are gone but after that I want to go and get some more fish, particularly some for the bottom of the tank at the minute I just have guppies, tetras and barbs.

I was thinking of either sme sort of loach or cory, and also perhaps some of the smaller gourami's. How many do you think I'll be able to take - it's a 200litre tank?

All of the ones mentioned are nice fish. If you go and have a look in the lfs, just make sure you know the potential adult size. You've got a decent sized tank, but a small clown loach will become a monster in time, so just take care Very Happy

Loaches or cories do best in groups - either 3 or the former or 5 of the latter. If you're going for small species of gouramis, try to find Honey Gouramis rather than Dwarfs - maybe not as pretty but last longer. Wink

don't rely on fish of any type to clear up algae. or live just on algae.

Very true. I add veg. and algae pellets for all my bottom dwellers and, even if they didn't eat snails/clean algae, I'd still want them just because they're fascinating species in their own right. Smile

I can recommend BN's. I thought that they wold only come out at night but both of mine are out all the time, ferreting around the tank and the glass. They are great to see.

I have three plecs now and the BN is definitely the most active and the most visible. I think the other two are nocturnal as I hardly ever see them. Wink
