| I've just done a water hange because over the past couple of days my tank water has been getting sort of milky looking. Nothing has changed in the tank, the readings are great, havent added any fish or anything so what could be causing it? the fish all look fine which is one good thing, but I'm just a bit worried in case it starts to effect them. Anyone any ideas what is causing it? |

| I think it might be something called a bacterial bloom brb. It happens sometimes, especially in fairly new tanks when the filter isnt quite able to keep up with the amunt of ammonia being produced by the fish. It usually clears itself as the bacteria in the filter grows, but that might take a while yet. You dont need to do anything about it as far as I know, just keep a close eye on your water quality, and if your ammonia and nitrite rise above 0 then do a water change immediately, otherwise just do your regular weekly changes. It might be an idea to reduce your feeding too till it's cleared. | |

| Sorry Mary - watching the footy on the tv! Half time now so I can answer your question  . I washed the filter sponges about 2 weeks ago in some mucky water. |

| Has it cleared up yet? If not try washing the sponges in mucky water or another WC?? | |
