Just browsing the forums and I came across this fish. It can be found on the following link =

http://www.cichlidscene.com/

Striped Midas (The Monster)

Despite the fact that the black-barred variety of this fish has not been readily available for some time, I stumbled across this male striped Citrinellum at a local shop in August of 2001. Within two weeks, the fish had put on considerable weight, healed its torn fins, and developed its nuchal hump. This particular fish is without a doubt the most aggressive cichlid I have ever owned, and is appropriately nicknamed "The Monster." Approach the tank and it will slam into the glass with an audible impact, blowing its gills and biting audibly. Water changes are a challenge, as it leaps OUT of the water to bite my hands (see videos, below).

This fish has been known to eat more than thirty (yes, 30) large Hikari cichlid pellets in a day; in fact, it steadfastly refuses any other food. It grew from less than 8" to more than one foot in length (and greater than 5" tall) in less than one year. Although this Midas does not have the strong vertical black-barred pattern seen on my older male, it has better finnage and a more stream-lined appearance. It is the sole inhabitant of a 120g (5-foot) tank.

July 2003:This Midas cichlid took 2nd in Class at the 2003 ACA Convention.
