| Oh they look lovely MC (sorry, I mean phishy!), very nice. I might have a go at merging this thread with your fish photos one so if they get accidentally deleted, you'll know why!!

| You can merge threads that are of a similar topic so I thought I'd merge phishy's tank & fish threads into one but couldn't figure it out...Doh. | |

| Looking good! Are you leaving the juwel filter in? Will you add any externals or additional filtration inside the tank? I'm just being nosey | |

| Yeah, have ordered one of those sand filters. Been talking to a few people elsewhere and aparantly they're amazing (thought id do my research beforehand instead of just taking the fish shop owners word for it!) I didnt fancy an external as you can imagine would be a s*** pit with 2 plecs, oscars AND pirahnas and i can just image all the cleaning. The sand filters need to maintainance, so i opted for that opton | |

| it says: This toxic ammonia (NH3) is converted to another toxic compound nitrite (NO2) by the Nitrosomonas species of bacteria. The nitrite is then converted to a relatively non toxic compound called nitrate (NO3) by the Nitrobacter species of bacteria so strictly speaking, you shouldnt EVER have any problems with nI and Amm. It doesnt break poo and things down much though so ive still for the original jewel filter | |

| id not heard of them either until the owner of fish shop suggested one and have done my research too. Good things to have. One of the assistants even said shes hasnt done a water change in 2 years(which is bad, i know) but she still has no probs with NI NA or amm. Obviously her water quality would be shocking though. Although they dont recommend REGULAR (as in weekly) water changes with pirahnas anyway or they grow TOO fast and have problems when they're adults. Anyone know anymore about this? | |
