Hiya everyone. I had a pregnant molly that I found dead this morning. All the water stats are fine, and I havent had any problems in the tank. I do regular weekly water changes to make sure things stay good.

Do I need to do extra water changes because of this? Could there be something wrong in the tank or do you think she just died because she was pregnant?

It could just be one of those things. Sometimes fish die for no apparent reason - although obviously there's always a reason. If the ammonia and nitrite are both zero, there's no need to do a water change. It could have had something to do with being pregnant but hard to say for definite, I'm afraid. But keep a close eye on the other fish just in case there is something lurking in the tank.

I think I have read people saying that their fish have died either when they were pregnant or just after giving birth so perhaps some fish just find it too much
