I got two mollies today - they're lovely, sort of black and white spotted, really pretty. Ther man in the store said that they were both male but I would like to check. How do you tell the difference? One seems quite a bit bigger than the other, if that makes a difference or not I dont know.
Neither of them has a hairy chest :lol:

All livebearers are sexed the same - the male has a modified anal fin which is narrow and straight (left photo) forming a gonopodium whereas it is fan shaped in the female (right photo).

Are they bigger too Mary? One of my plattys is quite a bit smaller than the females and I think that's the male?

I think the male plattys are a bit smaller than the females charley. I had 2 female and 1 male platts, and it was quite easy to see the difference in size.
