So following on from my last problem about me having loads of fry, I have found a lfs that will take both the fry and the female fish too, and do a swap for something else! So what now? At the moment I have 1 male platty and 4 female, and 1 male guppy and 3 females. If I take the females to the shop, would I have to get another male platty and guppy to keep them company, or should I go for something else - if so what?

I need to take them down at the weekend so have to make my mind up quickish.

AFAIK it's not the best idea to get males in small numbers, due to nipping etc.
Have you looked at harlequin rasbora or any of the tetras? They look good in a shoal. I have about 25 cardinal tetras in my community & they add a lot of colour & interest (they're a bit like neons but a tad bigger & the red stripe is full length)
Threadfin rainbows are nice & slender, very elegant. There are loads of dwarf gourami, kribs etc

Sorry, i'm not much help...remind me what size tank you have & it's current inmates Smile
