cycle - Cycle question Empty
PostSubject: Cycle question   cycle - Cycle question Icon_minitimeSat Mar 29, 2008 7:48 am

Hiya everyone,

I am carrying on with my cycle with fish and I think it's going on ok but justy want to check. I have slowly managed to get the ammonia level up to about 4, and have got a nitrite of 0.5. I have had a nitrite reading for most of the cycle.

What I am wondering is, when the nitrite goes up, do I then have to take out some of the rotten prawns and fish food out of the tank, and if so how do I guesstimate how to take out? I am worried that if I take out too much it will cock up the cycle, and if I leave too much in will it mean that the bacteria wont catch up with it - does that make any sense?

Any help out there please?

You have fish IN the tank?

If so you don't want to be trying to increase ammonia, you need to be doing BIG daily water changes to reduce ammonia!

God, that was just the WRONG word to miss out hillbent!

Leave things as they are at the moment because everything seems to be going well. When the nitrite has gone up and then starts to go down a bit, then take out about half of the prawns etc, or perhaps just a bit less than half to make sure that the numbers dont drop by too much
