| I am actually directing this question at Mary because i know she has blue rams Well, i have had lots of pairs of rams, but they all seem to end up with the lady dying! How did you buy your pairs and do you have any tips? | |

| I ended up with a pair of males, Matty, as the LFS didn't stock females. After spending half an hour trying to pick out one, the guy eventually told me "Errmm...they're all males"... They have the perfect dominant-submissive relationship and, apart from an initial bit of chasing by the Alpha male, have never caused any bother. | |

| Oh I had that as well. But mine just killed each other 24/7 until i separated them. And the females were killed by them two!! I think i need to get females that are bigger than males | |

| Not a bad idea. That's what I have with my Pearl Gouramis - I have a juvenile male-female pair and also an adult female and she doesn't take any nonsense from him. | |

| You probably have two dominant Alpha males Matty which is why they haven't taken kindly to each other. Both trying to be The Boss and neither one surrendering. | |

| Exactly! They are each in separate tanks! I will take one back and get a bigger female and hope that peace is restored | |

| Yeah, get a nice lady to kick his butt! If I was you, I'd take back which ever one is the most bossy to give your new female a fighting chance. | |

| Rams are lovely fish arent they. Are they ok in with other fish or do they have to be on their own? | |

| They are classified as community fish, but it is recommended to keep them in big tanks so any temperaments can be spread out. They are lovely though | |

| I wonder how many tanks are owned by the 30 or so members on here? I think yours alone could start a reasonably sized shop Mary, and Matt seems to have a few too! |

Well this hobby is nothing if addictive...but, in my defence, my six tanks are quite small (the largest being 165L) in comparison to other people. I know someone with about eight tanks and they're all quite big so God knows where she puts them all - there's probably no furniture left in the house... | |
