Sorry but can someone tell me if this is ok?

I've tested the tank today and got these readings = PH 7.6
Ammonia = 4.0 (none added for 3 days now pale )
Nitrite = 0.26

I thought that the ammonia would be going down first before the nitrite started to show? Is this ok?

Looks fine brb, the nitrifying bacteria will start to consume ammonia now that the nitrites are on the up Very Happy
It takes a while to get going but it's certainly on it's way cheers

Yeah, MC's right, don't worry too much about what is going down first or how fast, it all happens in its own time Very Happy

It looks like everything is starting to work well so it's just a matter of carrying on as you are?

I know, I'm not trying to make it happen faster than it will, I'm happy to wait as long as it takes. I am a bit bothered that the Ammonia seems to have stuck though.

Since I added the forst lot and got the ammonia to the right level, it's just stayed there, for days now, and that's what I was really bothered about.
