| Just got back from a trip to Southport Fair with T - costly business!! T went on a load of those things where you have to hook a duck/frog/pig etc and you win a prize, and was surprised to see that one of the prizes on offer were goldfish! I thought that practice had died out a long time ago, but there were loads of baby goldfish swimming round in a large tub, ready for kids to pick their choice I suppose I should be thankful that at least they had an air pipe blowing bubbles into the tub to give them a bit of oxygen, but I dread to think what the water quality was like! A little lad chose one of the fish as his prize, and the woman running the stall filled the plastic bag for it from the table where the ducks/frogs/pigs etc were swimming round and God knows how old that water was .

| Doubt it dekks, there were hundreds of them! Just didn't know this was still common practice these days - I know when I was a kid I used to love trying to win a goldfish (to put in a bowl ), but thought things had progressed a bit sonce then. | |

| Report it to the local RSPCA and Trading Standard and Council - im sure at least one of those lot will be unhappy to hear about fish as prizes. | |

| That's just shocking... Thankfully, it was never standard practice over here but I'm amazed that people are still allowed to do that. It's almost guaranteed that 90% of those goldfish will probably be dead by the end of the month... | |

| All my family are firmly against this - if I find out a fair nr to me is doing this - i'll go and buy ALL the fish from them. It will only save a tiny number but its better than doing nothing. I remember as a kid one fair was giving away hamsters | |
