| I saw a lovely Talking Catfish in an LFS yesterday which I'd assumed was one of the large species but I've since discovered (thanks Jenn!), that it's small enough for my three foot tank. I already have a Peckoltia and a Panaque plec in that tank, both of whom seem very docile. If I add extra filtration, do you think I could put this catfish in also (after quarantining it of course)? Any compatibility issues? | |

| What is a Talking catfush like Mary? Showing my ignorance now, but I have never even heard of it? I guess if you're on your own at home you can chat about the finer points of flake or pellets  | |

| I think it should be fine. I've got two of a different talking cat - the Platydoras Costatus (raphael) in with bristlies and they ignore each other. The only thing to bear in mind is that they will eat what fits in their mouths, like most catfish. Just make sure it has it's own hiding place as I've found mine like to squeeze into tight hide-aways. The one you have seen is gorgeous, doubt I could have left it at the shop | |

If I'd known what it was, I would've too! But I showed restraint as I was unsure as to its size. Knowing my luck, it'll prob be gone tomorrow. Re: eating - does that mean my Otos and Cherry Barbs might be at risk... - Diana wrote:

Only grows to about 5" so not that big as plecs go. | |

| I doubt it would hunt them, but if they swam into it's mouth it wouldn't spit them out. | |
