I dont know if you will remember but a few weeks ago I had some problems with my tank - the case of the exploding fish! Basically a neon tetra that had a distended belly was found dead and its belly seemed to have popped. This was followed by several more fishy deaths, some also had distended abdomens. I dosed the tank with Interpet Internal parasite treatment and things seemed to have settled.

Today though I have found 2 plattys dead in the tank, and the sole remaining female guppy has a huge belly. I did have a male guppy some time ago - couple of months maybe??- but he died so I am not sure if she could be pregnant or suffering from the same thing as the other fish that have died. She also has a large red area on her belly, around the anal area that I have not seen before on other pregnant guppies.

All the water stats have always been spot on -(0-0-15), and I did my routine water change yesterday.

Couple of questions - how long is a guppy pregnancy? Could she be showing signs of a distant fertilisation?

Is it worth dosing the tank again for internal parasites?

Thanks everyone

I cant remember when the male died but I suppose it could be about that, so perhaps her belly is just babies and nothing to worry about = hope so!
