| A virus has been found in some fish imported from China. The SVC (Spring Viraemia of Carp) affects Carp, Tench, Rudd, Pike and Wels catfish as well as Goldfish. The virus causes clinical signs including darkening of the skin, swollen eyes, abdominal swelling, pale gills, trailing faeces and protrusion of the anus. Infected fish can also be lethargic and may show areas of bleeding around the skin and gills. More information can be seen in the online article in this months PFK, but just be aware of it if you are thinking of buying any goldfish. | |
