Lights off at night but definitely not the filter & heater. They need to be on all the time.
I have my lights on from around 10am-10pm Very Happy

Filter and heater both need to be kept on to maintain the filter bacteria population (filter) and the water temperature (heater). Depending on whether or not you have plants will determine how long the lights need to be on for. In my planted tanks, I have the lights on for 8 hours a day but in the non-planted ones, just for two hours in the evening to see the fish. Smile
