I HATE EHEIM!

I came back today, only to find that my Eheim canister filter had stopped working and was pumping brown thick stuff back into my tank!! I have had to find spare equipment in my house as this has left me with 3 tanks 2 filters and heaters and lots of unhappy fish! I have emailed Eheim as i am very angry as i now have 2 crowded tanks!

Ooh, that sounds bad! What has caused it Matt do you know? Have you had to take all the fish out of that tank now then?

Haven't got a clue why! It was working yesterday. All the fish in that tank have been divided into my other too!

Can you get the impellor out? usually works if you give them a clean & a good shake in some water

I did get it out, but i recently cleaned it. When i plug it in it makes no effort to move, no noise or anything! Sent an email to Eheim because of the problems it caused me! The thing was dribbling thickish brown stuff back in!

Ewwwww doesn't sound good.
We have just emailed tetra about 2 heaters we got last week that don't work.
The shop we bought them from want me to pay postage to return them. I told tetra & they have sent me a freepost address & they are sending new ones out asap, get that sort of deal off eheim, dont accept excuses

Oh Matty what a bummer. It sounds like the intake and outtake pipes got reversed or something??

Nope! All the pipes were correct! Me being a curious feller opened it up! I have found the problem but dont know why! The clever stuff inside the motor housing had got all worn out. You could see like fatigue marks on them. So when you plug it in, the impeller spins half heartedly THE OTHER WAY! Thus poring gunkky stuff into the tank..

For know i have 2 emergency tanks set up. They are a bit crowded but i am doing regular water changes

I sent them a very angry email! BUt their office is in Germany. They better speak English

Well at least you had the room to temporarily house the fish. I had the wierdest dream last night that I was minding an Oscar for someone and it ate all my fish.

I take it that all of yours are compatible species? :lol:

That's a really bad sign Mary, when you start having fishy dreams!

I keep having them, Diana!! The other night, I dreamt that Paris Hilton (my Peckoltia plec) escaped from the tank and while I was chasing her around the floor - yes, she zipped off like a lizard - she scraped her back on the heater and died.

It's obviously all the anxiety I'm feeling over the flippin' Betta!!

I am a community fish keeper for now! Will be getting cichlids soon though.
