hi guys one of my discus fish over the last 24 hrs has started acting really odd not sure if its male or female ive seen its spinning round really fast swimming upside down then swimming in really fast small circles and then it plays dead for 2mins and swims as normal is it dying or could it be trying to mate with my other discus its really weird to watch ive also had to close the top of the tank leaveing a small gap so the tank doesnt build up with too much condensation the reason ive done this is becouse its jumping so high i dident want it jumping out of the tank if any one knows why my fish is doing this then your advice will be a big help

Well that's an odd one, andrea. I'm afraid that I know very little about normal Discus behaviour so can't advise on that sort of thing. I can only suggest you keep an eye on it to see if it's feeding ok just in case it's brewing some disease. Wink

ive heard of oscars having 'off days' on a regular basis - perhaps discus do the same?

i dont think wevee got a discus expert resident here - so thanks for voluteering andrea Very Happy

all I can suggest is asking on a discus site

yeah as rich says ask on a discus site or at your lfs for some expert advice

by the way andrea - a mature male discus has a slight bump on its forehead
and the female's is more round - hope you get things sorted - good luck
