| He has just head butted the tank top about 6 times made me jump. really hard he hit it.i have turned the lights out as i havant a drip tray in yet, dont want him burning his head on the lights. i have ordered a drip tray thought it might have come today but it hasan't. he is looking for food there all the time, so i think he is doing it to get my attention, then looks at me all sad as if to say well feed me, he already gets too much, i feed him bits through the day but i might stop this. and just feed him at a certain time, he's getting too clever now. and the splash he makes is like a whale jumping up.lol |

| Introduce elvis to an adult pictus cat - that will make him behave Told you they learn how to get attention/fed Once or twice a day is enough - fish are always hungry - its natures way of preventing them starving - cos somoedays food will be easy but others it wont - so they feed whenever the chance swims by. All cichlids are smart - do you have toys for him? Ive hheard thy lke to play with pingpong balls sometimes or hard boiled eggs | |

| Thanks Diane what do you suggest im going to a big Aqua shop sat morning. so i can get some from there. i'm afraid there isant much room at the top of the tank for anything to float.ie:ball. as the drip tray is nearly on the water. i might get a couple of them moss balls he came move them around. he spends most of the day staring at me when hes not head butting........ or scrounging for food............... he either loves me or loathes me..lol I'm thinking of taking the lid off the tank, now i have the drip tray. Malc will make some kind of fitment that overhangs. the bulbs in this are really too bright for him. i hate it when there on. plus now i have put the drip tray in the light end fitments touch the drip tray. now i know why Juewl tanks dont have them.lol |

| Can't you lower the water level slightly chez? I have never had Oscars chez, so other people will be able to give you info, but moss balls sounds good, I know ping pong balls have been suggested. These could either float or have holes drilled i so they sink. Whatever you get, make sure they are too big for im to swallow, that he cant bite bits off, there are no sharp edges, and all are aquarium safe - no lead paint etc. Do all that, put them in the tank, and watch him................ ignore them!!!! | |

| If you want an easy solution to oscar safe toys - think of 18month old children - child safe bath toys (dont feed your oscar 18month old children as they make the water messy and the oscars get bored of them quick) I know one oscar who like rubber ducks - so theres another idea | |

| lol. right Elvis's wish list............. ping pong ball moss ball rubber duck 1 child <<< for starters we have a 6 yr old in the family going spare. he will have to do. I will have to have a look for something that will sink there's no gap at the top of the tank now. don't forget he is a big scare'dy so all these things will frighten him. lol |
